Jim Nantz Joins Scottie Scheffler and Friends – Teeing Off On Childhood Cancer Gala
Scottie and James became close friends playing golf together on the Texas Legends Junior Tour. Even then, Scottie was the same grounded, humble, hard-working, faithful, and family-oriented young man he is today. After James died, while Scottie was still in college, Scottie would take the time each year to be the honorary starter at TOKC’s Annual James A. Ragan Triumph Scramble Golf Tournament in Corpus Christi, in honor of his friend.
Scottie, his wife, Meredith, and their family continue to be great friends, supporters, and volunteers of TOKC. Since embarking on his career as a professional golfer, Scottie continues to support TOKC and the work we’re doing. Funds he has donated continue to bring joy to kids with cancer. We have had special golf clubs made and started a program called “Scottie’s Heroes”, where we give golf clubs to young cancer patients. As his schedule allows, Scottie and Meredith, along with TOKC representatives go to children’s hospitals and give the clubs to children with cancer. It’s no surprise that Scottie and Meredith have partnered with TOKC for a special event on Friday, October 25th. It will be an evening filled with love, celebration and fundraising for kids with cancer.
On October 25th, Jim Nantz will be leading the evening’s discussion with Scottie Scheffler, because Jim, like Scottie, is a pay-it-forward person, always taking the time amidst his busy schedule to help others, including kids with cancer. Jim has been a dear friend and positive influence for James and his family over the years. We are truly blessed that he is taking the time to join us and help us make James’ vision of a world where kids no longer have to face the horrors of pediatric cancer a reality.
